Recently, I came across a short video on Youtube. In the video, Shark Tank investor Kevin O’Leary was saying he does not work with workaholics. He was basically advocating for enjoying life over “too much work”. Well, if you have reached a certain position you can say that but for people who are still to reach a stage where they are financially secure or enjoy luxury in life, how can they have the benefit of not “working too much”?

For average Joe, building wealth and achieving career goals requires intense dedication and long working hours. Striking a balance between work and life is personal, it depends on your financial goals, life stage, and values.

Working too much isn’t a bad thing, most successful took the same path.

I'm sure that's much easier said than done. But to get to Kevin O'Leary being able to say that, I'm sure he didn't prioritize fun over building Softkey Software Products (The Learning Company) before he sold it to Mattel to make his $4.2 billion. Assuming 40% tax on that, you're making $10 million per month in interest on just that cash alone (at a low rate of 5% return)!

So, sure, he can sit back from 1999 to now and easily forget about the past grind as it's been so long.

Also, I'd bet that he indirectly hired a lot of workaholics, and all of them advanced to senior positions because they did the grind. Now, those senior executives can relax a bit, and that's all he sees now, people relaxing a bit and not working too hard, because the bottom workers do the work for everyone at the top to keep an easier work/life balance.

This. He likely did this and is just too comfortable with his success to make such a ridiculous statement.

I wouldn't say that being a workaholic is a bad thing. Many of those whom we see have become financially stable and have the life they always wanted, and they were workaholics before they got themselves into that situation.

If you have goals and you enjoy working, being a workaholic is not a bad thing at all.
