What he meant was that he didn't face the scrutiny to perform and prove the Ballon D' Or win. And that is the truth though. Circumstances caused it. No player is happy to be injured. And Rodri wasn't. And the injury has somehow made an excuse for him even as he returns. No one would criticize him as he is not expected to be in top gear returning from such a huge injury.
