Technology can really be a boon if used appropriately. CCTV cam installed at home to monitor a babysitter with the child, helped a man save his marriage, when his cheating wife, stopped bringing other men home as she used to and decided to change for good and save her marriage with her devoted and unsuspecting husband. Should you be installing CCTV cam?

If you suspect your significant other is cheating, you might be the problem...

Why stay in a relationship if there is no trust? Just break it off and move on. If my significant other couldn't trust me, that would be it, I'd lose interest. The same goes the other way around.

But for security reasons, CCTV is still a good idea. We have it at home. We have hidden cameras, visible ones, audio recording, driveway and perimeter alarms, the whole thing.

Am I paranoid? No. I work in surveillance and I'm a sucker for it LOL

Your relationship is already over if you feel that you need to set up a CCTV camera to catch your significant other in the act.

For the other reasons, like monitoring babysitters, I can totally get behind that.

Not going to give away my security layout, but it's similar. I didn't set it up with the intention of catching my wife cheating, though. It's more of an insurance policy, if anything, if you know what I mean - at least I can get a lead if one of them can pick up a face or a voice.

Uhh, so the CCTV stoped the wife from cheating? More like it made the wife take her infidelities somewhere else
Never thought of it like that. But, if someone set up CCTV for the sole purpose of catching a partner, I wouldn’t put it past them to install tracking devices on phones or other GPS units.

Either way, that's a toxic relationship.

As a husband I wouldn't even undertake all that stress. If I knew my wife is cheating I'd just end it.

Exactly. Insurance :)

Reminds me, I need to find a new dashcam system for my new truck. My old one was cheap and unreliable.

I don’t think you should be installing a cctv to be spying on your marriage. If you don’t trust your significant other, then you shouldn’t be married. It’s that simple.

installing cameras in the household sounds like an episode of Jerry springer.

I don't believe a cam should ever be used in a relationship, especially not marriage. If you are struggling to trust your other half, then I firmly believe you should be talking to them about that rather than trying to catch them out.

The moment you need to install cams is the moment there is no trust left at all.

How does it really work on this ? I would like you to work me through on how to install them at my home.

They're actually quite simple to set up. It's essentially plug-and-play, linking the camera to a Cloud account that will ping your phone when there's motion as well as record the event if you can't immediately respond.

I have Blink cameras (now owned by Amazon). All I needed to do was sign up for Blink, install the app, and scan the QR code on my cameras for them to give me the live feeds, alerts, and access to the video if necessary (to review or download).

Some are wired (USB power), and some are battery-powered. I was surprised at how long a battery-powered camera can last and how well it can be disguised, too.

I do not have security camera at home but I would certainly want to install security cameras not to "save marriage" but for security concerns related to theft and robbery. If you feel that you need a security camera to monitor your partner, your relationship is already dead.

I won't install a CCTV camera to monitor my wife. It won't still give me the peace of mind that I want. I would love to install a CCTV camera in my house if I can afford one. I would rather have a CCTV camera to monitor the maid than have it to monitor my own wife.
