discuss Would it have worked to punish those who used Tiktok in USA with VPN?

A thread covering the latest news on trends, groundbreaking technologies, and digital innovations reshaping the tech landscape.
I don't suppose they will make a big deal out of that. It is only expected that Americans will definitely try to make use of VPN to access the platform

USA will most likely get VPN providers to block access to TikTok-related traffic. It's what I see them doing once the ban is in full effect.

There was reportedly a rumor of having a penalty and punishment for using a VPN to access TikTok in the U.S. after the ban. I don't know how possible doing that can be if the US government was considering in the first place. The American citizens wouldn't take this lightly if it was signed into law.
Tiktok works fine if you already have the app installed on your phone.

I’m not sure if you’ll be penalized for downloading it if you use a VPN though.

I highly doubt that they’ll do that when there’s a lot of United States citizens that make money through the platform, which is why they’re trying to push a sale as soon as possible to get Tiktok back into the app stores.

I believe everyone in USA who makes uses of Tiktok wants a sale to happen as quickly as possible because the uncertainty which surrounds the app usage in USA is not helping content creators in US to put in their 100% in using the app in case it's banned.

That is past now but I think making access to TikTok through a VPN is illegal but it is an impossibility that the law enforcement agencies cannot enforce. That's going to be very difficult to deal with.

I don't think there's anything illegal about using a VPN to access anything unless it's put in law that's a crime.

An arrangement with VPN companies will see any traffic going to Tiktok blocked in USA to solve the problem easily.

I believe that such effort will be abortive because there are numerous users throughout the world using VPN to tmaccess blocked content and that can make it extremely challenging to track those who watch TikTok through these networks.
Those who are using Tiktok in mostly other parts of the world doesn't have to worry about using Tiktok with or without VPN because the app isn't banned in their country. It's main USA users this problem is facing currently.

The hunt for punishment measures against VPN users doesn't prove to be feasible. TikTok users will likely continue using Virtual Private Networks after any TikTok ban because VPNs have become a standard tool for internet accessibility among users.
Tiktok users don’t have to use VPNs to access tiktok.

As, there isn’t a global ban on Tiktok for United States users. It’s just removed from the app stores until a buyer and sale happens.

Users can use a VPN if they’d like, but they don’t have to.
