This is something that just always puzzles me. Why do people say I love you and then don't mean it really? You think they're just manipulating or are incredibly casual? Because I went through that. It's kind of rude. So what are your take on this?

If I am been honest, most people tend to say 'I love you' without emotion attached to it such that they can be alone at times. They only use those words on most occasions to manipulate people without actually feeling it.
Whenever someone expresses the phrase, "I love you," be careful; step back and see what their actions say. Do they come around for you and listen to you or just say it to get what they want? Trust your instincts in this regard.
It is called lip service. There are people like that fake. Never be trapped by those foolish words without bearing from the heart, It may cause an excruciating pain if say you love the person, too .
Most people just want what others are doing: someone to flaunt our display as partner. So they have no problem claiming to love someone when deep down, they know it is all a lie

It often used to baffle me on why people would say they loved someone when they never really meant it and in some cases, I have found that some people say it back just to be polite as they would seem rude if they didn't which then leads the person to believe there is a connection there when there is not.
It is easy to say I love you. In fact, I always say I love you to my laptop.

Maybe their are trying to get some advantage, maybe they have some hidden reasons for that, maybe they are saying it just to impress, maybe they are using it as a tool for some vested interest. There could be many reasons.
In my country, people proclaim love when they don't mean it simply because of their own selfish interests. For the guys, it is always because they are lusting after the girl's body. And they would say they love the girl just to get into their pants. For the ladies, it is always the lust for money that makes them to proclaim love that they don't mean.
A lot of people are in relationship where they are manipulated by people whom they are not supposed to be in a relationship with. For one reason or another, they find themselves in such relationship and they are trying to force themselves to make the relationship work. It's where they keep telling their partner I love you and probably put them in a position to say it back when they don't mean it.
Some people just use the words loosely. it is not from their hearts. it is just fronting maybe to get things from you. They are fakers

I’ve seen this and I believe this is due to emotional immaturity, manipulation, or fleeting feelings. They might seek validation, like a friend craving attention at a party, or avoid conflict, as seen in a coworker’s insincere charm at the office.
