Childhood bonds with siblings often shift in adulthood. Have your relationships with your siblings changed as you grew older? What factors influenced this shift: distance, life priorities, or unresolved conflicts? How can adult siblings reconnect and maintain strong relationships?

I believe that adulthood and the responsibilities that comes with it is responsible for the change in connection. But it is not necessarily a bad thing.

I don’t believe sibling relationships necessarily change over time in a negative way. While we might grow apart as we develop our own lives, there’s always room for growth and deeper understanding. In my experience, we have adapted to different phases, but the bond remains strong as we mature.

As far as the relationship with my siblings are concerned, there are two reasons:

1. A natural migration to other cities in search of better opportunities in employment
2. Marriage - this being a prime factor. During marriage, woman in our locality are sent to the house of their husband, denting the sibling relationship between me and my sister.

But in the mean time, I dont think it should be a reason to feel less for the other person.

Yeah, my brother and I are so close as children but we became distant because of the different life goals that emerged during adulthood. Both of us stay connected by speaking frequently on the phone and meeting as a family to nurture our connections.

For me, our shared points of interest as adults have become a major binding force between us. We make sure to contact each other and support ourselves too. This has deepened our bonds and create unity between us.

My relationship with all my brothers and sisters have never changed. It's never going to change because our parents taught us how to love ourselves. No outsider can come into our lives and change the love we have built for one another's over the years.

At adulthood, every siblings have their own peculiar interest in life changes and they have less shared interests. That's why the bond becomes less stronger as they grow. It gets to the epicenter when the siblings have their own families. They focus more on taking care of their families.
