I have always wondered who would judge the judges. Since the onset of moern governance system, we have largely aligned to the common line of people being sovereign.

In India, it is done by a collegium system. In Japan, I think there is a public audit of the conduct of judges, though I cannot be fully sure about this.

What are the mechanisms in your country?

Even the judges are not immune to being judged should the need arise. Panel of judges can be formed for the judges 😃
That actually violates the principles of natural justice.

If there are 4 judges A,B,C and D. There is a panel by A,B and C to judge D. They will be biased and will always rule in favour of D because in the next rotation, a panel of B,C and D might be formed to judge A.

You cant appoint super-judges also, since someone would have to judge them also.

Its a classical go-in-the-circles dilemma.

Well isn't that messed up. They can actually bring in outside judges to judge fair and square right? Since there will be no familiarity

The decision a judge makes is not purely based on his own conscience, he is guided by the written laws and documented proofs he has at his disposal. However, sometimes conscience also plays a part. For instance, how will he decide whether to give death penalty or whether to send for life in imprisonment. I think morality and ethical values he holds will help him decide the verdict. As far as who will judge the judge is concerned, I think he will be judged by his own conscience.
