Capitalism has a problem, rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer.
Capitalism isn't a form of governance, but rather an economic system. Capitalism still runs deep in communist and authoritarian states, it just goes by another term: The black market.
Capitalism is the #1 economic system that has brought out more people from poverty than any other economic system. No other economic system can do that, as the aim under those economies is equality, or every one the same. However, if you divide everything up amongst all the people, you only get poor and starving people.
Are there problems with capitalism? Yes. But, it's mainly focused on crony capitalism where the corporations strike deals with the governing bodies or the government, stifling competition.
It's easy to get capitalism mixed up with a governing system because we've let crony capitalism run for far too long. An example of this would be someone who worked in government for 30 years and in the IT sector. Say, their agency needs a new communication platform, so the agency puts out a contract for one. This forum software, XenForo, may be able to compete for $1 million. However, that government worker got minions together to make a cheaper, and more unreliable piece of software, for $100,000 and proposed their bid for $5 million. Who gets the contract? The government worker('s company) because of their connections, making the government pay 5x more for something less reliable and bound to cost more in the long-term with maintenance.
Because capitalism allows you to grow your wealth, it also allows you to swallow or push out competition, but that doesn't mean nobody can try, unlike in other forms of government where individuals can't just make a new soda and put it to market without government intervention.
The best form of government is a constitutional republic with democratically elected officials to represent the people's best interests with checks and balances that also have a free and transparent capitalist market. In other words, the framework of the United States. That said, there is crony capitalism in the US, to a degree, at the top, that is rot and needs to be gutted, as we see lobbying for government contracts from companies that have ex-government officials on their boards, etc..
