What does independence in relationships mean? In my opinion, I think it has to do with having one’s own identity, interests, and space which can be absolutely incredible and also useful for couples. But why is independence so important?

One thing that I really like is when the two people in a relationship are more or less free in their decisions. When you have something of your own to attend to, you do not fall head over heels in the relationship. Moreover, it enriches the relationships and prevents the couple from getting bored because you will always have different hobbies to take care of.
I am against seeking independence in a relationship. Your relationship will work as long as you are depended on each other, not just physically but also emotionally. Once you start seeking independence, it means your relationship is in trouble.

However, others might argue that healthy interdependence, where both partners can rely on each other but still maintain their own identities, leads to longer-lasting relationships. It prevents codependency and burnout.
