The culture of opposition itself has died actually and people are less tolerant now than before. Today's politicians feel more threatened than politicians were yesterday. Maybe, the rise of social media has been the cause of that insecurity. That's why people in government are always feeling the need to always be defensive.

I think politicians are no longer diplomats because politics is polarized and politicians now favor themselves more. They work for their pocket and never think of the masses or the people they are ruling.
Politics used to feel more diplomatic and respectful that's necause they used to bring in a great social change. Now, social media fuels constant conflict and quick reactions, rewarding outrage over calm debate. This shift is driven by sensationalism and the 24/7 news cycle.
I never saw politicians as diplomats, I don't think in the entire history of humankind, politicians have ever been a diplomat.
