Russia is a very big country with vast territory and that alone gives them huge power. I believe it's really getting into their head and have made them involve in numerous conflict with some countries. I'm very sure it'll be their end if they pick the wrong fight.
Russia is still experiencing the Soviet hangover. Putin the former KGP guy is running the country exactly how the communists did.
