Some feel the US is not merit-based enough. That's why there's this push against DEI. Anyway, one argument on their side is that China and is gaining an edge, because it's merit based. In fact, China is gaining AI supremacy, and that could lead to Chinese supremacy, lol. It could get to the point where China simply asks the US to be its puppet (politely, of course) and nothing can really be done about it.
