fitnessStigma Around Mental Health: Breaking Barriers
Mental health stigma prevents help-seeking. Open conversations normalize struggles. How do you fight stigma? What’s one myth you have come across, what myth you have debunked personally?
I’ve seen how stigma around mental health stops people from speaking up, even in my own circles. Though I haven’t faced it directly, I believe sharing experiences openly and listening without judgment can really help break those barriers for others.
It is really difficult to remove stigma related to mental health, even educated people tend to stigmatize people suffering from mental health. That might because mental health is seen as a sign of weakness or a lot of people believe that those who are suffering are not trying enough to come out of it.
If we turn blind eyes to stigma around mental health, we are not being truthful to ourselves. It's happening everyday and everywhere, so the best way to fight it is by sharing your experience and listening to others actively. Personally, I do not see mental health issues as a sign of weakness.
