I wouldn't always decide on marriage based on the fact that they stayed while you got yourself back on your feet. You should look at factors such as does she feels the same way you do, do you want to marry her and spend the rest of your life with her, and you can look at and picture her being your wife.

Any guy that won't marry a lady should let her know from the start. It is very painful as a lady to spend years supporting a guy to be on his feet and stabilize only for the guy to dump you. Let her know you don't have intentions of marrying her, so that her staying would be by her choice.
If the only thing that the lady did for me was just to stay with me, she doesn't deserve any marriage. If she added value to me in those years, I won't hesitate to marry her.
