Do you think it is wise to permit regulated betting in sports field?

By regulated betting, I mean that there are proper rules and regulations and you can bet in money but not using anything in kind or securities.

I think its very good for capitalising the sports sector and attracting more people into the field. However, there must be a limit to how much large the betting goes. I understand that countries in the Middle East perform this activity quite well in horse racing stadiums.

What are your thoughts?

YOur point about increased fan base is well taken.

Additionally, if there are betting, teams will compete to improve performance. See the stock exchanges - companies compete to ensure that they either retain or improve their ranking in the stock exchange.

A higher value would certainly be an incentive for teams as well as individual sports persons.

I totally support the establishment of regulated sports betting. Gambling are everywhere now already but I know that proper implementation will create a profitable business opportunity in that area.

Sports betting is a form of gambling. My fear is the fact that it can be addictive with many problems such as depression. A robust regulation with safeguards should protect vulnerable people and reduce corrupt practices such as match fixing.

Additoionaly, I have concerns abiout how we would keepo the young ones from entering the system.

With much being taken up online, there are not many ways to validate the age of those involving in betting.

Sports is funded massively by gambling and betting-related firms. Without these kinds of services, large chunks of the money going into many sports would be whittled away and rather quickly at that too.

Overall, betting is good for sports and for competition and entertainment overall, without it, the entertainment and value for money from paying for TV subscriptions etc wouldn't be there. There's a fine line to try to strike a balance.

I think regulated gambling is something legitimate, but, on the other hand, we are experiencing a gambling epidemic almost all over the globe, that is worrying, but I don't think the bookmakers or casino are to blame, but the lack of education and more regulation.

We had a program in the States called DARE that would teach kids not to do drugs. However, we have a fentanyl problem that's causing 100,000 deaths per year. I don't think education is to solve the problem, at least not by a school or organization, but rather with loving and good parents.

Regulation will just drive betting underground where people could be prone to losing more through scam sites or shifting to betting on platforms set up in countries where they don't regulate, so it's a worldwide problem.

I don't know if either of those options would be effective.

This is the attitude of most. It's a very libertarian take on it, as the government really shouldn't interfere in anything if you're not causing harm to anyone else.

I believe there are regulations to sports betting already. But the problem is whether those who are betting are truly following all of the betting rules and regulations? I don't think so because even in my country where under 18 are not supposed to be involved in betting but they can easily walk into betting shops and place a bet.

I am not sure if it is the same thing in the western part of the world because the way this has going on in my country, it is very repulsive and disgusting. Kids are not supposed to take part in gambling and betting.
