One of the best and proven way is to control what you eat. This means that I have to read through the labels and decide what I am eating and what it is composed of. I am more prudent in deciding upon the added fat, added sugar and sodium levels in my food and I choose them after I read the label.

However, I dont see most people who come into supermarkets doing this.

Are you a person who reads the label? If yes, what do you look for? If you are ignorant in this, whats your excuse?

I don't often look at labels as I have a general idea of what's in foods already. However, if there's something new that catches my eye, I'll take a peek at the label. Sometimes, I'm surprised by how many calories are in 1 serving, which you would intend on eating as 1 serving too, being as high as something like 800 calories. That is just nuts as you would need to divide a serving by 4 to get a better calorie intake, but it would take it down to a filling serving size to something that'll just keep you hungry after eating because it's not fulfilling enough for your stomach to get that "full" feeling.

I'm mainly looking for calorie content, fats, and added sugars.

I also read off the colors added. While I'm not a big fan of colored food products, this alone doesn't necessarily turn me off as much as the fats, or types of fats, and added sugars, though, it probably should.

Recently, I was in a hunt for new snacks which I can go to without not having much calorie adjustment.

I zeroed in own Fox Nuts - which I understand is remarkably low on calorie!. One serving, which is around 50GMS has hardly 10 kCal. Th good thing about reading labels is that we are 'informed' consumers not falling for marketing pranks.

I only hope that the labels are accurate and cross checked.
