What movies you think had a great stroy line but poor direction?

Recently, I watched this film named Ad-Vitam, which is a french action movie in Netflix.

The story line was great, complicated enough to spin off a high stakes action drama but the movie felt like it took too much time to reach to the point. Had the direction been better, it would have been fantastic.

I felt this way too about the recent release of "Ma".

However, once they arrived at the point, you couldn't look away. It has quite a long opening, setting up characters, but doesn't focus on Ma as much until the last 10-15 minutes when things just go crazy.

So, there are some movies where this tactic works great. It doesn't sound like that too much for Ad-Vitam, which I still have on my B-tier watchlist.
