discuss Pension policies

Every governments and even some private agencies burden themselves by offering pensions to its workers. In the past, it was necessary but now it has largely become unecessary.

Why wouldnt the government just teach people to save properly and invest it properly? A large part of the government's expenditure goes into pensions.

Not only we know that the incentive has not helped us make a efficient government workforce but we also understand that if we are able to save the amount for pensions, that could be invested in other meaningful avenues like universal basic income.

What are your thoughts?

I've been of the opinion for many many years that eventually the countries operating in a capitalist system will have to move to a system of universal basic income in order to avoid society becoming a menace to itself. Nothing I've seen over the last 10 years or so has done anything to change my mind on that.

The pension policies remains very essential according to my view. Retirement pension systems act as protection for elderly workers to help in their minimum standard of living. Pension funds guarantee retirees basic economic security.

If you worked for 20-25 years for a certain organization, don't you want to be rewarded with something. For ordinary people the salary they receive is just enough to pay their bills, they can't save, they can't invest. When they get pension after retirement, they will be able to pay their bills in the age when they no longer can work. Having said that I also believe that the provision of pension is creating a huge burden for the government. The only way to handle this is by going better salary so that people are able to save and invest.
