I believe that logging in with your biometrics is much more safer than passwords. Someone can secretly find out your password and use it to access your device and online accounts. A person's biometric is his or her personal imprint and no one can learn it or try to know it because it is in you.
I use it for my financial services like banking apps, investment apps, etc. but I think it is risky, what if your information is compromised. I think it is more risky when someone has your finger print and eye/face print rather than your email or location.
Someone can simply use your fingerprint when you are asleep and gain access to your digital world. Even if I have biometric login activated for most of my logins, it is always the second step to having passwords enabled in a 2FA setting.
I have started to shift from using the traditional password to using passkeys and biometrics. I found them to be more safer and convenient as they offer better security than the traditional password. The only challenge is the breach in biometric data which can be very devastating.
Pass keys are generally safer than passwords as passwords can be cracked.
You have 10 fingers and only so many guesses (if you set it up). Have fun!
Most people put their thumb because it's the logical thing to do to unlock their phone while handling it. They'll try to scan your thumb 1-3 times, then your other thumb 1-3 times, giving them less of an opportunity to get in without a password, too.
I have facial unlock to get into my phone which only works if I am directly looking at it with my eyes open, otherwise, it won't unlock. Also, on apps within the phone, I have a fingerprint, but which one?
It'd take some good guesswork to get in as once you throw it off, it goes into password mode, and that's going to be a difficult crack.
I love to login with biometric because I don't have to commit a single password to memory and try to recall or every time I need to login. And also, one can easily track your password as you type it like my girlfriend did some few weeks ago and gained access to my phone. Biometric login doesn't give room for that.
Yeah, but it's way too difficult to crack strong passwords. I mean, how many days, months, years would it take?
All security measures can be compromised at one point in time. Scammers eventually find their ways around the security logins. However, when we keep changing our passwords from time to time and make them more complicated then before there is a better chance of securing our assets. Biometrics once compromised might be difficult to change. I can't imagine where I will get another iris from!
