Fitness mental health days can definitely be a necessary reset. Sometimes stepping back helps prevent burnout and keeps your relationship with exercise healthy and sustainable. It’s only enabling avoidance if it becomes a habit to skip without addressing the underlying reasons—balance is key.
 
When I was in school and college, I faked sickness so that I can relax at home. My school going child hasn't faked sickness but sometimes he says he doesn't feel like going to school but we just force him to go to school and in the mean time also inform his teacher that he wasn't in the mood to go to school. We do it because if we fear if we let him stay at home because he wasn't in mood, he would start taking advantage.
