Movie information in first post provided by The Movie Database
Let it Shine was one movie I refused to delete from my computer even after a decade of watching. The presence of Tyler James Williams made me watch the movie back then because I watched him in Everybody Hates Chris.

I have to admit the songs, rap battles and the relationships the movie portrayed were all spot on. It introduced me to the good-looking Trevor Jackson, recent Grammy award winner Coco Jones and even the Bailey sisters.
Among the songs in the movie, Don't run away is my favorite.
What I didn't really like about the movie was Truth winning the Atlanta grand slam when he was not even among the contestants in the first place. You can't just pop up on final day, defeat your opponent then be crowned champion 🙄. But obviously the directors thought otherwise.
All in all, it was one worth watching.

Let it Shine talks about two friends. One of them sings well and but the other one takes advantage of it or takes the credit. That was what made his girlfriend fall in love with him. But it was all deceit because he couldn't sing in reality but his friend does.

Basically, there is nothing really unique in the movie but you can watch to pass time
.
