Sony Pictures has locked in a December 11, 2026, release date for Jumanji 3. The main cast—Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan—are all expected to return, along with director Jake Kasdan. The film will hit theaters in IMAX and premium large formats.

The previous two films, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), were massive box office hits, earning $950 million and $801 million globally, respectively. The movies follow a group of teens trapped in a video game, transforming into adult avatars—a fresh spin on Chris Van Allsburg's 1981 book and the 1995 film with Robin Williams.

Karen Gillan previously shared that scheduling was a challenge but confirmed that the team is committed to making the third installment happen. "We're all so enthusiastic about it," she said, hinting at potential delays due to busy schedules.

In a 2022 interview, Johnson teased that Jumanji 3 could be the final film of this version of the franchise, with director Kasdan planning a "special, cool idea" that might wrap things up. "In the spirit of that, it’s really special," Johnson added, heightening anticipation for the next adventure.

I think both the Jumanjis with Kevin Heart and The Rock were good
This was the selling point for me. But, I think the duo is great and can still make the movie great.

It should be the end of the series though. There was already a revenue dip with the 2nd, so I would expect that trend to continue. If it does, it would not be worth pursuing the franchise any more than the 3rd and final installment.

The last Jumanji I watched, the one with Rock, I felt so boring that I have vowed never to watch any movie in this franchise. The old movie with Robin Williams was awesome.
