Few months ago, to mark International Yoga Day, a crowd was practicing yoga in football stadium in Maldives, and a mob attacked the yoga practitioner. Maldives is Muslim state and the mob said yoga was anti Islam. Do you think practicing yoga makes you Hindu? Do you think doing yoga will be a disrespect in what ever religion you follow.

Muslims state believe that yoga is attarcting demons . They see it as source of evil. But l think it has no harm

To me personally, I don't see yoga as a "religious" act. I've seen many people, of various different faiths and religions, partaking in yoga, sometimes together in a group setting. Yoga might help a person to feel more connected with whatever entity or God it is they believe in, but the act in and of itself is not inherently religious, at least to me.

I think yoga is like pokemon it has a religious background story or even football it has religious background practice before becoming reputable sport and this is what means exactly thread starter. But practice it is benefical for health.

I don't think the Western world does yoga for religious reasons, but I could be wrong.
When people in the west practice, yoga it is not a religious practice, they are trying to remain mentally, emotionally and physically fit. The Sanskrit word yoga literally translates as "a sum of mind and body" and all yoga poses are to create a perfect harmony of mental, physics and emotional welling. Even the Hindus do not practice yoga as a religious belief.

Yoga originated from Hinduism and Buddhism, however, the practice is purely a fitness and health practice. It helps us to create strengths in mind and body. It also helps in body co-ordination which is one of the primary properties of yoga.

Buddhism has nothing to do with yoga.
But yes, yoga originated in Hinduism. Shiva, one of the Gods in Hindu trinity, is said to have created yoga. Historically speaking, Yoga is credited to Hindu sage called Patanjali. He wrote a book called Yoga Sutra (mean treaties of Yoga)

I do the little yoga I can for the health benefit
In modern times, yoga is all about light impact exercises that you can do for mental and physical health. However, in Hindu culture, yoga is more than that it is a true submission of your body and soul to the almighty.
