It is surprising to find out how technology is changing religious practices all over the world today. Technology is now allowing us to hear sermons on the Internet, read scriptures online, pray in Facebook groups and more. But that is not to say that it doesn't have a negative impact as well. What are the advantages as well as the drawbacks of technology in relation to religion?

One of the greatest disadvantages of technology on religion is related to religious fanaticism. Technology has made it easier for people to spread hate message against other religious institutions. By the way, I don't think listening to sermon is in anyway is a religious practice.

It is true that the popular use of technology in religious practices has made a lot of difference and in a very wrong way too, it has also promoted fanaticism like you mentioned. However, it has also created opportunities for individuals to organize prayer support groups, teleconferences and sermons, which is quite awesome.

I don't disagree on this but sadly they are just threatening people in the name of "God" or what ever you call "Him" to get money from them in the name of organizing prayers to help them.
