Hyperloop is a new mobility concept where carriages are moved through specially built vacuum chambers using strong magnets and batteries. There are a lot of experimental track building going on around the world, including that in India and Middle East.

Despite this popularity of the idea, it has not succeeded much. Infact, countries are moving towards conventional trains - for example, the Emirates Rail by the United Arab Emirates.

In this backdrop, do you think Hyperloop will succeed?

The hyperloop concept is being experimented in a few countries. There are issues with it such as the risks, finance and technology. For example, Hyperloop one, backed by Elon Musk, could not achieve the high speed initially envisaged. The company faced other issues that led to it being shut down in 2023.

I agree that despite the initial hype, Hyperloop has struggled to gain traction. Technical challenges, high costs, and safety concerns have hindered its development.

While it's true that Hyperloop has faced significant challenges, I don't think it's fair to write it off just yet. Companies like Virgin Hyperloop One are still actively developing the technology, and breakthroughs in materials science and vacuum engineering could help overcome current hurdles. It's too early to declare Hyperloop a failure.
