discuss How Will 5G Impact the Tech Industry?

A thread covering the latest news on trends, groundbreaking technologies, and digital innovations reshaping the tech landscape.
I’ve seen 5G being rolled out.
5G has been widely available in Japan since 2020, but it wasn't until 2022 that we got maximum download speeds of 4.9Gbps and upload speeds of 1.1Gbps, which is better than most home internet plans around the world. So, I essentially have home internet speeds wherever I go.

I just ran a speed test for a farther away server on both my phone and computer. I have download speeds of 100Mbps over the 5G network while only 88.5Mbps on my computer (though others are streaming video and music so my home network might be bogged down). In contrast, I only have 2.5Mbps upload speeds over 5G while I have 87.7Mbps on home internet.

I'm grandfathered into unlimited Wi-Fi tethering with my S23 Ultra, but if I upgrade my phone I will be forced to change my plan to where I can only share 25 GB. I presume this is because many have canceled their home internet plans as it would save $50-70/month when they could just tether and have the same experience.

It's great. I can stream 4K if I wanted (but my phone's display doesn't have 4K so it would be overkill).

As far as gaming, I haven't tested tethering to see if it can keep up with my 1Gbps home internet when it comes to latency, as that is a huge factor over just download speeds. Though, it should.

It will improve connectivity, data transfer will be faster. This will have a huge impact on how we communicate and how we transfer data. It will help development of smarter technology

A lot of people are limiting 5G to just the speed of the internet. Whereas, it's way more than that. It can make self-driving cars safer and it makes things seamless, thereby making our lives fun.
I strongly believe that 5G can redefine the industry in quite a number of ways. Their would be lowered delay and improved network reliability. This will help a lot of things like the performance of various applications and so on.
