fitness How many push-ups can you do at once?

This general fitness thread covers all aspects of fitness, including workouts, nutrition, wellness tips, lifestyle changes, and fitness advice.
I can do 20 push-ups without stopping. Push-ups stand out as among my most preferred exercises because I focus on developing my upper body strength at the moment. A few daily sets helps a lot in my fitness goal.

It is beautiful that you are able to focus on achieving 20 pushups on a daily basis or as at when you want to do the training. I've been very focused on doing squatting, for example, as it helps to build up my hips region.

I do pushups from an incline position (feet 30 inches higher) and hit around 40 in one go, but do 4 sets for about a total of around 90.
I am now plateaued at 32 pushups in this position. Since then, I have gained about 10kg/22lbs, which has made it more difficult.

I'm going to try and break the plateau soon by mixing in pushups with an 18kg/40lb weight vest. I imagine I will only be able to do a set of incline pushups at 15/10/8/4-6 repetitions with the vest, but it'll build strength. After a few weeks, I should get back up to 40 pushups in one go without the vest. Though I don't know if my core is strong enough for the full 40 pounds, and might need to start with 20 pounds at first and add weight to hit those repetitions to gain the strength necessary to break the plateau.

Did it tonight for four sets of 15, 12, 8, and 6 repetitions with the vest on and then did a super set with it off ending the session with 12 pushups.

My core was just fine. I struggled with front shoulders failing first. Also, since I couldn't touch my chest to the ground, I didn't feel the stretch or focus as much in my chest.

However, just to kill my chest, I added 2 more exercises that were chest centric to get that nice "it's working burn". 😎
