Hacking of a users social media accounts is quite different from hacking a hardware like smartphone but I guess hackers will use something similar to hack and hijack a smartphone. It might be from installing a software in the phone which will grant them access and control over the phone.

Have your smartphone or laptop been hacked?

The last time I was hacked was with Netbus in the early 2000s, with the attacker sending me something that I wanted, which made me vulnerable. Immediately, my CD-ROM door opened and closed, and other annoying things. Couldn't stop it, just had to shut down or get off the net, then do a format.

I then learned about it and sent it to my friends. 😅

My devices, banking accounts, email accounts and accounts on various websites have never been hacked. However, I have received notification about someone trying to get into my gmail account and I changed password immediately. My X account was also hacked once and I found it in few minutes and I immediately secured account.

Did any of them found out it came from you? I would raise hell if I was among your friends whom got it from you and I found out it was from you 😅
Of course 😂

I sent them videos.exe over AIM in like the 6th grade.

Netbus was relatively easy to get rid of at that time, I think I just overdid it with a format. I believe there was a dedicated Netbus removal tool that was free and worked.

But I remember back in the day when my websites were "cracked" because I used scripts that had backdoors in them. Those $10 turnkey sites they used to sell.
I've been there. However, I don't think the scripts (at least if you bought them) necessarily had purposefully inserted backdoors. Rather, it was just very poor coding that was easily exploitable.

Especially if you didn't check the scripts prior to upload. Some of them contain vulnerabities that you wouldn't know unless you vet the scripts prior to uploading them to your server.

Which is something that has happened a lot to others in the past. It's always a good idea to check the scripts if possible and make sure there isn't bad code in them.
