Do you play flash games?

I regularly play from this online arcade in between class. Its handy to play because it helps me keep myself away from sleep and also its mentally stimulating. My favourite games are Iron Snout and Mophead.

Additionally, these flash games are of less size, so the public wifi can support it without much issues.

Thoughts?

I play flash games from time to time, though they’re not technically ‘flash’ anymore. Many have been ported using Ruffle, and others have been converted to HTML5. This transition became necessary after the Flash Player was discontinued in 2017, replaced by more secure technologies like HTML5, WebAssembly, and WebGL.

I used to play the heck out of flash games when I was introduced to the computer as a teenager. There were sites I would have bookmarked and played these games frequently. Now I mostly play games on my mobile device and GeForce NOW.

I second this.

I used to play this when I was also introduced to the worlfd of computers. After a very long break, I have started to use it back again.

I must say that the nostalgia feels very good.

the amin reason why I stopped playing them was because using a dial-in connection, the load was too high and the delay in loading the game was so frustrating.

Same here. I was also into Flash game development for a bit, but got stuck on games that interact with a server to store information for the players to come back to the game with a "save point", and gave that up.

I haven't seen Flash games around anymore though. I figured since Adobe(?) bought it, it kind of just died.

Does Flash and games that run on Flash still exist? 🤔

If I remember correctly, Flash has already died and you can play Flash games by downloading them in a program or on websites that still have them stored. For example, I usually play Flash games from Cartoon Network, I download them and play them on PC.

It's been almost a decade since I played any flash games, I remember the time when they were so fashionable, I played Habbo, Boombang, club penguin and many others in newgrounds or minijuegos.com, but nowadays it's not something that attracts my attention to play.

I thought so. I just looked more into it.

It looks like Adobe did buy it from Macromedia, when it was at its peak of internet games, and of course, ruined it. However, a Chinese company picked it up and it's supposedly still used in China today. Also, Harman, a Samsung company that looks like they're into audio and audio equipment, looks like the new owner of Flash.

I tried to see how Harman could implement it, and gave up after a few moments, just shrugging it off as, "They probably just use it as a nice equalizer display on their radio equipment or something. I dunno. 🤷‍♂️"

they can still work if they’re using ruffle to process the flash games, but flash itself has been phased out.

Ruffle is an Adobe Flash Player emulator written in the Rust programming language. Ruffle targets both the desktop and the web using WebAssembly.

And in 20 years, we're going to have to have a Rust emulator to open Ruffle to open Flash games. 😂

They ought to just make it open-source at this point.
