I tested Fiverr, Freelancer and Upwork so I learned about their strongest and weakest features. People who specialise in small tasks prefer Fiverr but it provides minimal payment options. And despite offering many jobs, Freelancer face stiffer competition.

Upwork is very professional but it comes with cost of high fees. What is your preferred platform for finding work and your reasons for the preference?

There’s also a freelance section on Reddit where you can find jobs. I haven’t used Upwork nor Fiverr to find work, but I have an account on both platforms.

Are you serious? I never knew about that until you mentioned it now. I'm going look into it and see the kind of jobs they have for freelancers on that section.

There is a big competition on these platforms. So l advice newbies to search new alternatives.
There's competition in all of them irrespective of the alternative which might be out there. The most important thing is having a quality service other will struggle to offer. It's going to avail more jobs to you.

Those freelancing platforms are quite good and they have their advantages and disadvantages. Majority of them can be quite challenging for a newbie because they need to build an impressive portfolio to gain the attention of clients.
All of them are very challenging for new comer freelancers because when you look at it from the angle of clients, who will you be interested in hiring for a job? Would it be a new fish without any experience or track record of jobs completed or an experienced freelancer in the site?

I have not made much on Fiverr, however, I was fairly successful on Upwork. When I started on Upwork, it was called odesk. I have account on Freelancer but have not made even a dollar.
It's hard for most people to succeed on Fiverr. It's rare to see an average freelancer who's made it big on Fiverr. As for Upwork, Freelancer and Seoclerks, it's easier to make it there.

On Fiverr, you will have to wait for someone to buy your gig. However, on Upwork you can pitch, which is lot more easier to rope in gigs. The problem with Freelancer and SEOClerks is they do not have too many buyers.

You can also tap into the reddit market for work. There's a "forhire" section that's designed for freelancers or those looking for work. It's a lot easier than relying on Upwork or freelancer.

I've used the section on Reddit a few times. It's good which I can also recommend too.
I am definitely going to disagree that the Fiverr algorithm does not favor the new sellers. I believe with the right gig setup and marketing, anyone can succeed on that platform.
Are you on Fiverr? How would you rate your success using the platform to work as a freelancer?
