I remember those days when we will undertake most projects by ourselves. Students will do their assignments, write their projects, come up with presentations and so on all on their own.
But with the invention of Chatgpt, one can use it to do most of these things without breaking a sweat. Some people claim that this fosters laziness, and students and everyone in general will no longer go the extra length to come up with tangible contents.
Is this true?

Yes. I have seen this firsthand in many web developers.

ChatGPT and generative AI is now included in every IDE you can think of, and it is taking away the ability for developers to come up with creative solutions.

Just like in writing, there is so much copy-pasted code in the world today.

Future implications? A lot less secure code and less creative programming/web dev solutions.

ChatGPT is a helpful tool, but I can't deny that it makes people lazy. What those sets of people fail to realize is that ChatGPT should only be used as an assistant and not entirely for your work. It will kill human creativity if not used moderately.

Aaaaah! You're absolutely right about that. I've received some messages on WhatsApp from some of my friends and it ended up being a ChatGPT generated contents to wish someone happy birthday. Some people can't use their brains anymore because of a common AI tool.

As much as I want to support the idea that people will become more lazy with the help of ChatGPT, I believe that this statement has some truth in it. It should be used to complement our thinking processes not replace it. This way, we are able to remain innovative and be able to think on our own.

That's very true, a lot of people use AI just to generate content and publish these content. Instead of using AI just to generate content, it would have been better of they had used it for generating ideas.

I agree with you. ChatGPT and other AI tools can be useful, but using them too often allows people to be lazy. Using the ideas from AI is better because it can assists us in developing unique content with relative ease.

Sure, that's the bad side. it writes and draws for people and can even think for people. So some people become laid back and lazy

It may be taking away creative solutions, but are the solutions provided optimized over what a human would have otherwise traditionally used?

I only ask because I ran a script I wrote using bits and pieces from PHP.net through ChatGPT and asked it to be optimized for PHP 8.3. It was able to strip it down from like 30 lines to 15, thus also resulting in an execution time that was 1/10th of the original script.

I agree with you. ChatGPT can be useful in regard to ideas and time needed for the search. However if people use it and depend on it a lot, chances are they become lazy and not as creative. ChatGPT may be used to assist us in problem solving, but it should not carry all of our thinking responsibilities.
