Self medication isn't advisable because some people don't know how to do it right and this makes them either abuse the drugs they are using or at worse overdose themselves.

I still self medicate but it's not for serious health issues. Once I have a complicated health issues, I'm going to hospital immediately.

Do you self medicate?

Self-medication comes with lots of risks that could transform into a major health concern. I have witnessed one with a friends. He is engaging in self medication over an illness which later resulted in negative health challenges.

However, I have seen quite a lot of medical errors emanating from self-treatment. This is as a result of improper medicine usage and inaccurate diagnoses of health conditions.

Yes, as I know quite a bit about pharmacology, from studies in high school, as I wanted to become a pharmacist. This knowledge helped me pass the DSST Substance Abuse exam (I believe it was renamed to Substance Abuse and was more medicine-centric prior, but I can't recall) without preparing for the exam, which counted for 3 upper-level semester hour credits toward my undergrad, allowing me to get my college degree a tad sooner.

I wouldn't recommend anyone blindly self-medicating, though, as it can be dangerous.

I definitely wouldn't recommend self-medication for what you may believe is a serious medical condition, as you could create a serious medical condition if you don't really have what you're attempting to treat.

Self medication is not recommended, but I do it. Based on the symptoms I have I do different kind of tests (blood test, urine test, etc.) and based on the readings, I self medicate. I did not go to hospital when I had corona. I also have a few doctors in my extended family (cousins), and I ask them when I am confused.

The risks of self-administered medicine are exactly what you stated correctly. Some patients choose to adopt unregulated drug usage because they cannot afford or cannot obtain proper healthcare services.

I use natural remedies, for the most part. Much of what I use is what Native Americans and old-time settlers used when they first arrived in America, much of it what they learned from the Indians.

I don't trust most modern medicine. I don't trust most medical folks or their ideas. I think most are just in it for the money, and that makes me not want to put a lot of faith into things.

I feel safer doing it myself and so far, it's worked.
