Some if not all forum softwares allows for web-safe fonts to be used for posting which any type of font that will appear on that user's device they use to access the forum.

I've witnessed it in many forum where users switch their fonts and even text colours but if I'm being honest, I don't like it because it breaks my focus whenever I'm reading through posts.

Do you like it when different fonts and text colours are used on your forum?

I really don’t mind it one bit. It’s a way for users to express themselves in a way that gives them power to write in their own way.

Having the ability to customize your own font puts a forum on par with notepad and various writing apps. You want users to be able to do things like that.

Not really. Some are hard to read.

I wish there was a feature where the user can select the way THEY SEE a font and it doesn't impact everyone else.
I would like to have this kind of feature too because it will be your personalized way of seeing things in the forum which is good for you. Anyone can use whatever they want but I see it as I want.

That's a win-win.

You shouldn't decide how others see your content's font and all that but you should be able to decide on your own.

I think that would be an awesome feature.

@Harsh World - how hard would that be to create, though?

Not too difficult, I suppose, but I'd have to look more into BBCode rendering to be overridden by a user preference.

It's an interesting concept, one that I see with social media apps.

If there's enough positive feedback for it, I'll look into implementing it.

I'm already one vote in support of implementing the feature. Also, Shawn is interested in it.

Do I need to create a thread about implementing the feature in the community feedback section?

It's easier to track if it's separated, I have taken note of it, but if it's confined to this thread and then implemented later, it might seem like an "unwanted" change that nobody asked for when and if I can accomplish it and roll it out (as smaller stuff like this I am capable of doing now).

As a selfish side note, it could also help me think things out if they are separate.

Further, I can ask follow-up questions that would otherwise derail this thread from discussing whether people like changing font on other forums to implementing it here. In this instance, my follow-up question would be if you want the default font or the ability to choose your font as you can on Facebook, etc., as well as if you want to ignore colors or just the font styles.

TL'DR: It's better to post what you want to see done here in that forum. :-P

It's done.

The thread have been created in the community feedback section. I hope more people chip in their input as soon as possible.

Thank you.

I mainly wanted your opinion as a programmer in terms of how easy it would be for forum software platforms to implement such a thing... Imagine it like: you choose exactly what the theme looks like for you but it doesn't impact anyone else.

To a seasoned programmer who works on the forum's platform all the time? Not hard at all. I would imagine it may run $60-120 for that sort of customization.

You're really only setting a user preference option to render BBCode as they would want to see it.

The only issue that comes in, that I can foresee, is for guests. While you may be able to do it per session, you would be giving up page speed and responsiveness for guests to be able to do it as you can no longer serve cached pages to them.
