I do because you can save a lot from what the item really costs. It is a hassle, but you can put that extra money to something else by buying used as it's going to last you the time you intended on keeping it anyway.

There's a stark difference between Facebook Marketplace US and Facebook Marketplace Japan (US users vs. Japanese users). In the US, you'd expect to pick up an item a little bit dirty (sometimes filthy), but you don't mind because that's just the way it is, and it's free to 90% off so you really can't complain. Marketplace Japan, however, is a whole different story. It doesn't matter if the item is 20 years old or 2 days old, you're picking up something in emasculate condition as if it were being sold on store shelves (I still do a pass-over disinfectant clean for good measure, but still).

I also essentially give away my old stuff to those who (are hopefully) in need. As my granddaughter grows, so does needing baby supplies. I hope that there's a needy mother out there who is taking them and not taking them so that she can go out on the weekend instead.

If it's like $100+ and I can't get it for 2-3 days, it's not uncommon to put down a nonrefundable $20 or so holding fee through the bank or PayPal though.
