The sports industry is a high stakes - more corrupt industry. The amount of money one can make from false contracts, bets, purchase obligations, advertisement revenue are too much that there are always people from the rich and privileged baground hunting for these key positions.

Despite this widely known fact, nothing much is being done to combat them as sports is an area where governments donot want to put their nose into much. Have you ever experienced corruption in sports industry?

The risk of corruption in sports industry concerns everyone. I have seen several major sports scandals and watched officials accept bribes. Many people understand the problems at hand but we still lack appropriate solutions to resolve them.

What I know is that corruption in sports is more prevalent in the lower leagues with no much media exposure and scrutiny. That's where fixed matches are prevalent. For the mainstream leagues, it is in the barest minimum.

I have heard of some African footballing nations demanding for money before they include players in the team for tournaments. This no doubt leads to the intake of mediocre players who could afford to pay, while the ones with potential are screened out because they can't afford it.

The international sports organisations like FIFA won't allow governments to probe officials of national sports bodies. They will term it "interference'" and ban the countries involved. The international bodies themselves are not without their own scandals. FIFA, under Sepp Blatter, was enmeshed in controversies and corruption allegations.

The biggest corruption in sport I know of is match fixing. This doesn't happen without the top officials and the football teams their matches are fixed. If this kind of corruption can be eliminated 100% in sports especially in football, it's a good achievement.

Gianni Infantino was re-elected last year's March. If he was so corrupt, they should have found a way to get rid of him. I don't think he's the real problem but he's not doing enough to stop it.
