I haven't seen it being used for tattoo parlors, either. A lot of the new generic TLDs (ngTLDs) were just a money grab and are barely self-supporting, as to why registries bought up a ton of them instead of focusing on just one. Donuts registry, for example, has 270 ngTLDs in its portfolio. So, it's harder to fail, as if one can't make the money, there are others to pick up the slack.
Though I could see people using .ink for anything creative, such as authoring self-publications, to drawing.
My Christian blog/forum is a .ink.
These days people are using all sorts of domains for all sorts of websites. I have seen dot org being used for a blog monetized with adsense. The extension does not matter for SEO but it might have positive effect if you use more regular ones like dot com or dot net. I have not used dot ink.
Mostly spam farms when you have ngTLDs offering 1 year for 99 cents.
.org (a TLD) was great for monetization if you couldn't get the .com before, with even commercial keywords, as Google's rank weighed heavier on exact match domains (EMDs). I'm sure the .orgs that stuck around built a good backlink profile that, when they weren't ranking based on EMDs as highly, they still kept their positions, but a fresh site might be harder to do.
Me either. I stick to .com and .org. I have two .xyz domains (an EMD and my wife's first name).
I don't think I'd consider a .ink before a .com, even for a blog, and even if I owned a tattoo parlor, as the cost of one great tattoo ($1000+) could get me the name I wanted for it in .com and be an exact match to the parlor's name.
40,000 people, a big number, have registered .ink domains, and even some sites are not tattoo related.

The first domain I bought was an xyz. I bought it for two reasons, one, it was 99 cents for the first year, and two, Google was using it for its alphabet domain so I thought it has some value. But sadly, it was difficult to get traffic people did not trust websites using lesser known domains.
The extension, .ink doesn't mean that it is majorly for tattooing as it could be used for different other creative purposes too. It could be used for writing, art or designs depending on the individuals that use them. It is versatile and it can be used by businesses to showcase services.
