Just stating facts. Salt retains water and hence you may notice weight gain when consuming a lot of salt. Similarly, when a person diets or fasts, the initial weight loss is due to loss of water following relatively less sodium intake. However, prolonged salt restriction may be harmful for human health, hence should be avoided.

This is something I dislike when it comes to salt. I wouldn't say that I eat a lot of salt, but I am more of a savoury person and would rather eat something salty than sweet when I feel like snacking.

I have always been prone to gaining weight quite easily, so I am always cautious when it comes to anything salty, and I limit how much I have when I fancy a savoury snack.

But what are the benefits of water weight, or gaining water weight ? Is it healthy to live by such?
