What are some of the bad things you learn at home?

Usually, we find that the family is the first school of a child. And, as in any schools, we learn the good things and bad things. I am curious to know what the bad things that you have learnt from the family are.

One thing I learnt is gender stereotypes such as boys should not cry and girls are better at cooking and kitchen work. Now that I have grown up, I am unlearning some of those, but it comes with great effort.

Boy should not cry, my parents frequently reminded me. However, I was always encouraged to work in the kitchen and do the house chores. I agree that we learn a lot of stereotypes at home. That's because our parents were brought up in that way and we are in different times.

I think we also learn the stereotypes associated with our religion at home.

Knowingly or unknowingly, we celebrate various festivals like Christmas, all giving us a distinct identity of our religion and then we learn the concept of the 'other religionist'.

Cant blame anyone, though.
