Yes, I am scared of old age. People say age is just a number but I disagree. As you grow older, your body will also start deteriorating. Apart of age related issues such as tiredness, lack of energy, weakness, etc. you will have to battle with multiple diseases, you might have diabetes, heart diseases, even cancer. As you continue to grow old, you might even be diagnosed with amnesia and Alzheimer's Disease. These things always scare me.

These things always scare me.
It's called life.

Enjoy the small moments and cherish what you have now.

You can't control aging. But, you can control how you feel about your life when you're older if you lived it to its fullest, never fearing what's to come.

Old age is a natural process and I don't bother myself too much about it. While one cannot avoid the changes that come with old age, a good lifestyle can reduce the impact of the degeneration that comes with old age. Things that can reduce the negative effects of old age include regular exercise, avoiding overconsumption of alcohol and maintaining cordial relationships.

That's very true.
However, it is also very true that a lot of us are too afraid of death. Old age means death is nearing, and death is unknown to us. We don't know how it feels when you are dying,is it painful, is it painless, would you miss people you left behind. These questions always haunt me.

I was afraid of dying up until I knew my family would be fine without me.

Now, the only real fear I have is how long will it take and how painful will it be. But, I know it's inevitable, so it's not something that I dwell on.

I also have a backup plan of going back to my home state where it's legal to get a doctor's assistance, if say, you have stage 4 with 2 months to live and are maxed out on pain meds. In that case, I'll go on my own terms, comfortably in a hospital bed, knowing that everything afterward is still taken care of.

People are afraid of death for just one reason: they do not know what's it like to die, or as you say "how long will it take and how painful it will be."
Sometimes religious belief that when we die, it is the body that dies and soul lives forever, also give some solace. :D

In the past I used to be bothered by this question of aging and am now looking forward to what I will be doing when I am old. I just want to live healthy and live life to the fullest .
What we desire and what we get are entirely different thing, right. We all want to live healthy and we want to age gracefully, but old age also means diseases, you might be living a healthy lifestyle but old age also brings in diseases. How does it feel when one day suddenly you feel that you cannot reach your back to wipe it after doing the business?

I'm not really afraid of old age, I'm afraid of death though. I'm mainly just afraid of the pain, will I be in pain or will it be painless?

Old age brings in diseases, and diseases also bring in pain. I have never seen anyone die, based on what I hear people struggle when then are dying. I guess that's because of pain.

I tend to think about different kinds of ways that could help me reverse biological age. I can't bring back my last. However, I can do a lot to make sure that things would go my way to some extent. This is why I have been studying about various ways that could help me reverse the ageing process to some extent. This is quite possible and there are various research-backed ways to reverse the biological age.

That is so cool that you have started to take actions that will help you fight aging and perhaps even turn it backward. Although we cannot reverse the clock but we can only learn how to make ourselves look much more younger. Like I said in a similar thread, there are scientific research that we can live young forever by virtue of our body cells not aging.
