discuss Are you a film critic?

Being a film enthusiast made me speculate what it is like when you work as a professional film critic. Does this allow you to watch movies during special screenings and connect with Hollywood stars and share your assessments? Particularly, I like to be a movie critic because I stand to gain the first hand information about the film and make all the neccessary assessment accordingly.

As a film critic, it gives you the opportunity to see new movies beforehand and you will write down your authentic thoughts. This will give room for improvement of the film and the movie industry at large.

I have a friend who is a film critic, he has to be dedicated and be patient enough to go through the movie inside out. But I don't think that the profession is viable again because social media has brought everyday audiences into film criticism.

I have done movie reviews for print and online publications, however, I was not a paid critic who was invited by the producer to watch movies with them. I was doing it independently. As a critic, you should not only know about the motion picture but also know technical aspects of film making.
