28 years ago today, AIM messenger was launched to the public.

Do you remember using AIM back in the day?

I’ve heard about this messenger in a long time. It was a very popular messenger in the early days of the internet. I used it and a lot of people also did back then. I remembered spending hours chatting with my friends on it. They've really come a long way.

My God, this makes me feel so old right now. How time flies can be very surprising when you look back at things that have come a long way we used to depend on.

It's the first messenger service that I used with friends back in the day. I would say from 6th grade to 8th grade, we all used AIM at school. Then, it shifted to MSN Messenger for a bit before Facebook took over.

Is AIM still a supported product today?

I came to know about AOL in it's dying days and I never got to use it. I could imagine it was a pioneer in the instant messaging world. How did it not evolve such that it has already gone extinct?

It was my go to instant messenging service as well. I miss the aol chatrooms in the early 2000's, especially getting out school and chatting it up with my friends.
I don't believe it is, but some old school computers might still be running it. I actually wonder if there's a script out there somewhere that enables you to download it and actually run it still.
