In our country, you cannot have wild animals as pets, if you are found to keeping wild animals as pets, you will be sent to jail under wild animal traffic act. However, in the west, it is common for rich and famous people to own wild animals as pets. I have seen a lot of celebrities keeping wild animals as pets. What are your thoughts about having wild animals as pets.

I am of the opinion that it is a bad practice even though it is common among celebrities. it is not good for the public and the animals themselves. These animals have their natural habitat and should not be restricted in any way. In addition, they may become aggressive and jeopardise public safety.

If the animals can be domesticated, controlled, and vaccinated if need be, there should be no reason for the government to tell you that you cannot have an animal of any kind. If the animal does escape or harm someone else, the liability would merely be on the owner to pay restitution, be it a fine to even jail time.

That said, it's not only just wild animals.

New York recently seized and put down a squirrel (and raccoon).

That was government overreach, and I hope dearly, the state pays. It will never bring back the life of Peanut, but it will make the state or government think twice about what they are actually doing.

Sometimes pets become aggressive and attack their owners. This is why I think that if anyone wants a pet, it shouldn't be wild animals. No amount of fine can be commensurate with the loss of a human life from animal attack. Wild animals should live in their natural habitat, the forest. Wild animals are not suitable for domestication because their behaviours are unpredictable.

The same is in India, you cannot pet any Wild animal and most popular animals to pet are Dogs, Cats.

I believe the primal instinct of a wild animal is still there no matter how much you try to domesticate it. That killer instinct can just raise it's head one day and the animal kills everyone. I don't play with fire. Wild animals are not even for the zoo. They are for the wild.

Nope, animals will always be animals, much less the wild ones. I'm never taking the risk of having a wild animal as pet, no matter how domesticated and harmless they claim to be.

One major reason why I do not support having wild animals as pets is because they need enough space and those spaces cannot be met in a domestic setting. Apart from that, using them as pet will disrupt the habitat as well.

Keeping wild animals as pets is risky and often harmful. They need special care and space that homes can’t provide. I’ve read stories where wild pets suffered or became dangerous.

I am against keeping wild animals as pets. Wild animals should be in wildlife sanctuary, not even in zoos.
