Is it just me who think the original movies were better then the remakes, or do you think remake are better. In my view, movie remakes rarely match the magic of the original. Do you think it just the nostalgia factor or do you just like me thing the remake lacks new ideas?

Its a combination of factors.
First, capturing lightning in a bottle twice is impossible. A movie that has been done excellently cannot be replicated, so many remakes fall short of the first iteration.
Second, many remakes are made by people who do not understand why the original has the status it does.
This leaves the new creators producing something for themselves instead of the core audience that loved the first one, which leaves no one satisfied and everyone pointing a finger at someone else for the failure.

I the major issue mostly boils on the reason for the remake. Most of these remakes we see today are mostly done by people who do not even understand the original work, but simply want to make profit.
In a bid to offer fresh perspectives, remakes may deviate from the context and vision of the original. In addition, the timing and audiences are different. Remakes may not be innovative enough to appeal to a new audience since the major motive is financial gain.
In my point of view, some remakes are better than the original. It's like making a new look of our favorite character. Not totally different from making the film in another way, but with the same character. Sometimes, the new look is nice but sometimes not as good as the first version especially if not done properly.
Remakes is just like watching a new version of a film. Some remakes lived up to expectations and it could even be better than the first one if it was made perfectly. I have seen a couple of remakes better than the originals.
