A balanced diet has been advocated since time immemorial. Every kid is taught this in school. As we grow up and are able to shop and cook our own food, we realise that maintaining a balanced diet is such a challenge. Some of the factors that I face is, busy life gives less cooking time, so I resort to making what's fast to cook and in so doing things like green leafy veggies which take longer time to clean are left out of shopping list or end up rotting in the fridge. Although I love cooking, the heat of the day drains the energy out of me, hence I end up either skipping meals or resorting to ready to eat food items. What challenges do you face when it comes to having a balanced diet?
 
I can afford the time to cook but the main challenge that I have in eating balanced meals have more to do with financial constraints. Protein foods are quite expensive and you need them in substantial quantities to have a balanced meal. The amount of protein I can afford might not be sufficient enough to make my meal entirely balanced. Affordability of a balanced meal could be the reason why a balanced diet is such a challenge.
 
My biggest obstacle right now it's time, i don't have much of it and frequently i prefer to save myself what little time i might gain by eating some unhealthy snack than to spread my time thinner to make something more balanced
 
We are the slave of our taste buds therefore, we like to eat tasty foods and most of the time food becomes tasty when you add a lot of saturated fats, or is heavily processed. Actually, healthy foods can also be tasty food if you know how to make your food interesting.

I would agree with you. I am a victim here. The actual healthy foods are not as tasty as the processed foods. And our cravings would be stimulated for those processed foods because of that. That's why most people would choose those junk foods even when there are healthy options available.

Well, if you have culinary skills, you can certainly make tasty food that is very healthy for your body. For instance, you can try making fruit salad with a pinch of salt and pepper as dressing. You can add your favorite fruits to make it interesting. Even a simple dish such as steamed rice and chicken soup can be healthy and tasty at the same time.
