I've noticed a very common thing with some people when it comes to being in a relationship with a partner who's abusive. The abused person seem to make excuses for their partner and stay in the relationship far too long.

I keep asking myself why they are comfortable putting themselves through pains and hurt being in an abusive relationship for too long?

It is the fear of having to start all over again. Trust me. I have been there. You have stayed with this person for some time and you are already used to him. Leaving him would mean having to start building a relationship from scratch. You talk to him and pray for him to change. It is when reality hits hard that you would find the strength to walk away.

As someone who was in a mentally abusive relationship for a long time, it took me 11 years to finally speak out and get the help I needed to leave, I can say for myself and probably for many who have done this, a lot of the time, you are scared to leave and scared to speak out.

I was always told no one would believe me, he would lie about things to make me look like the bad person, making it difficult to find a way to speak out and get out.

Some don't stay because they want to, they stay because they feel they have no other choice.

Most of the time that lack courage to start again. They face a question like managing finances, building a career, etc. secondly, they are fixated with something, for example, even when they are in abusive relationship they are still in this dilemma that their partner still love them.

It can be challenging mainly because they are worried about what is out there. Whether they are going to find someone who is as good as this person. I mean anyone who is abusive also have some elements of goodness in them.
