I want to upgrade my graphic cards, and I’m confused about which one to buy. I understand that NVIDIA's GeForce cards are very popular and I have seen a lot of positive reviews about it. But someone introduced AMD's Radeon cards to me. He said it's also very good, especially for gaming. I’m kind of confused, which one do I go for between NVIDIA vs AMD?

Nvidia by far.

Nvidia is ahead of its competitors by at least 5 years with the CUDA architecture, if not more with the amount of money they can spend on R&D to get even further ahead.

Nvidia also has about 3 times more cash and equivalents on the books than AMD, not to mention how much they could raise in a share offering. They could outspend AMD by far and get lightyears ahead if they focused on the technology.

If your major purpose is gaming

If the main purpose is also AI for Large Language Models, they are ahead of the game. AMD can only compete with cost-effectiveness. However, since you can do more with 1 Nvidia chip than 1 AMD chip, that cost-effectiveness goes out the window when you need to factor in real estate, or the price per square foot, for a data center.

Nvidia is superior for a simple reason in my opinion, CUDA. NVIDIA CUDA is a parallel computing platform and application programming interface (API) that allows developers to use NVIDIA GPUs for general-purpose computing.

This technology allows programmers to use and leverage the massive parallel processing power of GPUs to boost numerous applications, including challenging ones like scientific simulations, deep learning and artificial intelligence.

CUDA is the reason why what we know today as generative AI is possible. CUDA-powered GPUs provide unprecedented computing, mathematical, number crunching, and machine learning capabilities that are far beyond what any CPU is capable of. And these capabilities are crucial for generative and other types of AI.

Oh, and NVIDIA GPUs have been proven over and over again to be the better option for gaming.

NVIDIA is far better than AMD because they perform better fore streaming, video productions, and gaming. But AMD are affordable choice

In general, NVIDIA is better although there are lots of cases in which their performance are almost the same, but I would like to emphasize that 4K gaming and video editing are what makes NVIDIA stand out. But we need to also consider the fact that AMD has also improved a lot in recent years and they provide great worth for all those users who are on a tight budget.
