What to Know About K-Drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call

The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call follows Baek Kang-hyuk, a motorcycle-riding surgeon returning to Seoul after years in war zones. Determined to improve trauma care, he battles hospital politics to establish a world-class trauma center. The medical drama stars Ju Ji-hoon, Choo Young-woo, and Ha Young.

Motorcycles and surgery? Kang-hyuk’s vibe screams "action hero meets medical genius."

The drama is based on the webtoon Trauma Center: Golden Hour by Hansanleega and Hongbichira. The story unfolds in Seoul’s Hankuk National University Hospital, where the trauma team fights systemic neglect under a profit-driven hospital director.

Webtoon adaptations keep delivering. Do you think this one will live up to the hype?

The cast includes Ju Ji-hoon (Kingdom) as Dr. Baek Kang-hyuk, Choo Young-woo (Once Upon a Small Town) as surgery fellow Yang Jae-won, Ha Young (Doona!) as trauma nurse Cheon Jang-mi, and Kim Eui-sung (Train to Busan) as the corrupt hospital director Choi Jo-eun.

The cast lineup looks stacked. Ju Ji-hoon in a medical drama? Sign me up!

After South Korea's Health Minister, Kang Myeong-hui (Kim Sun-young), demands better trauma care, Kang-hyuk leads a skilled team to save lives despite opposition from hospital executives. The show blends high-stakes surgeries with gripping political drama.

Medical drama meets bureaucracy—sounds intense. Which part of the story intrigues you the most?

Directed by Lee Do-yun (Confession) and written by Choi Tae-gang, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is now available to stream on Netflix.

I watched a few episodes and then I stopped watching. Here are the reasons:

1. Unlike the Good Doctor, this is just down right unrealistic. A surgeon-cum-pilot, going to the ground and treating patients - NOT POSSIBLE
2. The surgeon, because of his extraordinary skills and talents being arrogant to all other doctors and even the health minister and running an ED by his own - NOT POSSIBLE
3. Extremely complex surgeries - including a heart transplant in 30 mins - NOT POSSIBLE.

Too much elements are done on a exaggerated scale makes the film very boring, artificial and unrealistic.
