fitness What motivates you to work out?

This general fitness thread covers all aspects of fitness, including workouts, nutrition, wellness tips, lifestyle changes, and fitness advice.
What would you say motivates you to work out?
Seeing the continual progress that your body takes on. It's good to take before and after pictures every once in a while as you sometimes forget what you previously looked like and then can compare the progress. If you look at an after picture, it motivates you not to want to return to the before picture.

Also, since I'm getting older, the reduction in cardiovascular health issues to maybe live a little longer is a motivator as I would like to see my grandkids grow up, and who knows, maybe see my first great-grandkid be born.

It's way to avoid some sicknesses
I don't know about all that. When I was seriously into bodybuilding, I'd still get sick now and then would take me out of the scene for a while, probably because someone who was sick decided to use the public gym and not wipe down their nasties before I used it, as I practically lived in the gym during that time.

because I believe it helps you have a more productive day.
It can help you have more productive days even when you are on an off day because that exercise high ("runners high") lasts a while.

For as long as you are consistent with exercising at least 3 to 4 times per week, you will see a drastic change in motivation to do other things because you just feel better both physically and mentally.

What motivated me to keep exercising and never stopped is to stay healthy. Exercise really helped in boosting my energy and it also maintain my body shape. I’m a mother of three and I never wanted to lose my body shape. I want to keep fit at all times.
You're doing very well because not so many married women with kids in my country take their shape serious after giving birth. Many of them tend to leave their body after giving birth to one or two kids.

Never lose focus of your goal because it's good what you're doing.

I had a diabetes scare a few years back. I started exercising and have never looked back.
I have to pin 2 hormones (T & GH), and manage a 3rd (estrogen, as testosterone aromatizes to estrogen) by dosing every 3 days with oral medicine. So, avoiding a 4th (insulin) is a good reason to work out, as I'm at a higher risk of developing it already even though I would be a skinny diabetic. :-P

That said, I need to get myself back in the gym. I made really good progress to get where I am, but the injury that was bound to be a tendon tear or a blown-out rotator cuff really got me anxious to not get back to it so soon. However, I've been feeling good enough for the past two weeks. It's just the anxiety of exacerbating it that's keeping me away from the gym to ensure that I'm fully healed as an injury of that extent would mean permanent loss of use to the extent that I want to eventually push towards.

Well the desire to get a toned body is my main concern. having a toned body means you do not have excess fat around your abdominal area, which means you are less prone to diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, etc.

I work out to stay fit and to look good and when you have a good muscular body then you will look good in any dress

Well, I enjoy exercising, and this is because exercising makes me a happy person and strong as well. Sometimes I enjoy cycling, football and dancing with my fellow friends. These exercise are so much fun to me.

Having a healthy body makes you look good. You look smart and there are more chances that you'll live longer too

My health motivates me to work out. I have a chronic illness so I must do light exercises at home. I exercise 3 to 4 times a week.
That's a great motivator because having to look after one’s health could make you push boundaries because it'll be like a challenge to you. So, you just want to keep doing it.

I get motivated as exercising will lead to better health. Exercise and physical training improves health in many ways and it increases longevity. This motivates me a lot. However, not all kinds of exercises are equal.

I get motivated when I get into a confrontation with people in public, it helps me blow off some steam. It's also good to exercise daily, because I believe it helps you have a more productive day.
The reason why I am able to motivate myself to exercise is because of my desire to look good and feel good. Exercise helps me to relax and it also motivates me to go on and be a healthier person.
