discuss Using Good Income to Help Parents

If a child has a good income, shouldn't they get mom and pop out of poverty? What priority should that be?

It isn't even debatable for a child that is rich to lift his parents and siblings from poverty. Any child that s well to do in future should make sure that the financial condition of his parents get better. I intend to move my parents to a bigger house as a priority.

Look at someone like my mom. She was the one one that encouraged me to start my business. And she helped me with more than 50% of the startup capital. My income is just substantial but I must send my mom money every month. Children should be able to assist their parents financially.

I am a firm believer as a daughter and also as someone who has kids myself, that you should always help your parents as much as you can and even when that comes to financial help and stability.

I would never expect my kids to just keep giving me money, my parents would not expect that from me either, but that little bit of help and even supporting them in their businesses and ideas can make a whole difference.

Not everyone believes in helping family, but they might make an exception for parents

And I know some parents, even rich ones, won't give children an inheritance.

There's nothing wrong in helping our parents financially. From where I come from, it is mandatory to help your parents to show appreciation and gratitude for their support over the years. It is just a chance to give back and make their life easier for raising you.

Well, at this moment my parents do not need financial assistance, they are able to pay their bills from their farm income. Except, paying utilities bills or medical bills sometime, I don't give them any money. But when a situation comes, I will certainly take of my parents. I have the moral obligations to support my parents.

I got my parents out of credit card debt and maintain an open line to send whatever is needed whenever.

My mom did so much for us to have what we had -- essentially carrying the debt I paid in rollover interest -- that I felt I should relieve that burden from her back.

My parents helped me a lot growing up, so I feel a strong sense of obligation to support them whenever they need help. Using my income to give back is my way of showing gratitude and ensuring they’re cared for as they once cared for me.

Helping parents financially is a kind and natural priority for many. But I believe it’s important to balance that with the child’s own stability and goals. Supporting family is valuable, but not at the cost of personal well-being or long-term security.
