I am a voracious reader sometimes reading more than 3 books in a month in a single stretch. However, I find it difficult to create a tracking system for the notes I take and the lines I highlight while reading books. I tried a lot of systems of classification to try and accomplish this but I have failed almost every time.

Do you have any ideas that can help me?

Just a quick note - I only read physical books and not e-books. So digitizing what I highlight is never an option.

Unless you are writing reviews or article based on the book, why do you need to take notes on the book you have read? Doesn't your brain remember the book you have read?
I read non-fiction books actually.

Its not possible to remember everything that I read, however there would be important things which we might want to reference later or come to read again later for our own knowledge enriching journey.
